Pastor Andre T. Melvin was born in Washington, DC. He committed his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in 1994 and submitted to do the Lord’s will. He accepted God’s call for ministry and pursued training for preparation as a minister of the Gospel. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Carver Bible College in Atlanta, GA with Suma Cum Laude honors, and received a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia International University (CIU), in Columbia, SC. He is presently enrolled in the Doctorate Degree in Ministry program at CIU.
Pastor Melvin was licensed to preach in March of 2000 and was ordained in May of 2003 and has served in various ministry capacities prior to Temple Zion Baptist Church such as Street Evangelist, Youth Pastor, Assistant Pastor and Interim Pastor.
In 2008, Pastor Andre T. Melvin was called to serve as the Senior Pastor of Temple Zion Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, where he has continued to lead the church to be “A Voice for Christ in Our Community” and now the world. He also serves as the Director of the Prison Initiative program for Columbia International University, educating and training men and women to make disciples within the walls of South Carolina Department of Corrections. Pastor Melvin is also the president of the Midlands Baptist Ministerial Alliance, an organization of pastors and ministers working together to better serve the midlands. His most recent initiative is working with community leaders of Crane Creek to establish the North Monticello Leadership Coalition in efforts to help improve our communities.
Pastor Melvin is married to First Lady Sheresa Melvin, and in their 17 years of marriage God has blessed them with a wonderful son, Isaiah Michael Melvin, and a beautiful daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Melvin.
Pastor and First Lady Melvin seek to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives using the gifts and talents He has given them for His Glory
